i still have no idea what to wear to Stray Kids, and i may have just unlocked the perfect scrambled egg
I woke up today feeling like a brand new person. Maybe it’s because BTS is *almost* back, or maybe it’s just because I’m one day closer to seeing Stray Kids for the second time since their Maniac tour in 2023. Speaking of, I still have no idea what to wear — help!
Before we get into it, we’re doing a little intro: Hi! Whether you’re new or a returning subscriber, my name is Zoë, the creator of up to date! This is a weekly newsletter column that houses all of the current topics we’re passionate about over here at 21st century girl, from what’s going on in music & entertainment, skincare I can’t stop buying, books I keep purchasing but never get to reading, outfits I keep repeating, and fibre arts I can never seem to finish — this column covers it all. Oh, and let’s not forget the weekly meme dump. Trust me, it’s worth scrolling all the way until the end.
Okay besties, let’s get you up to date →

It’s official: Jimin & Jungkook are officially discharged from their military service, with Yoongi close behind later this month! I’ve been heavily in my feels seeing all the posts of ARMY showing themselves before and after BTS’ military service. It made me realize that back when they enlisted, I was still in my senior year of college, about to graduate, and filled with so much uncertainty about the path ahead — uncertainty in my career, my mental health, and my ability to navigate adulthood and lay the foundation for my future.

Almost 3 years later and now I’m a devoted social media & influencer marketing girly in the foodie scene. Honestly, I never thought I’d find myself in such a position, but we’re learning to just roll with it and make the most of every experience God has given me. I still have a ways to go, but I’m so grateful for how much I have grown both mentally and professionally over the past three years. I was in such a different headspace back then, and there have be lots of ups and downs, but I have so much to be thankful for with the life I am building for myself now — it’s not perfect, but it’s mine, and I’d like to think that that counts for something.
In other news, I graduated from my wheel-throwing class! Can I build a cylinder vase without fail? Not even close. But…I passed my open studio exam, so you’ll be seeing a lot more clay creations coming soon. This course taught me so much in only six weeks. More than just centering clay on the wheel, this class taught me how to grow comfortable with failure and how to not internalize it. In the beginning, I was so quick to judge myself and push feelings of inadequacy onto myself when I kept messing up time and time again. It was only after trying over twelve+ times that I finally got some semblance of a finished piece. There’s still so much I have to learn, but I hope it can give you some motivation to get out there and try something new! I have a few other hobbies I want to explore: archery, dance, guitar — but we’ll see where the wind takes me next!
I couldn’t post today without sharing how excited I am for Stray Kids this weekend. In fact, I think my mom might be more excited than me. To anyone *including myself* planning on securing merch on Friday afternoon — good luck! I still can’t decide on my outfit though, and I need your help! Mind you, it’s gonna be hot, humid, and a 50% chance of rain:
When it comes to breakfasts, I think I have discovered my most recent obsession — scrambled eggs! Don’t get me wrong, I love myself a good ‘ole fried egg with runny yolk, but ya girl has been trying to eat more protein for the sake of #hormonebalance and I came across a tiktok showing how to make the perfect egg scramble. I was skeptic at first, coming from someone who despises scrambled eggs and is utterly disgusted with the smell. However, I decided to give it a try. When I say this was canon event and quite literally altered the trajectory of my life, I mean it. I haven’t been able to stop eating this combo. Paired with my favorite nut butter (you can use code CASHEW10 for 10% off!) and some fruit — let’s not forget micro-greens — I feel like I just paid $28 dollars at a boujee bed and breakfast.

I also tried making a smoothie bowl using my ninja creami and I am OBSESSED! Here is what I used in the base:
2 Sambazon acai packs, thawed
1/2 banana, fresh
1/4 cup blueberries, frozen
1 cup almond milk
I simply added all of those to the ninja creami container, gave it a good stir, and let it sit in the freezer for 4ish hours before running through the ninja creami under the smoothie bowl setting for 2-3 rounds. Serve with some fresh granola, fruit, a generous amount of almond butter and honey, and a sprinkled of hemp seeds and cacao nibs — and you’re golden! Honestly the perfect start to summer if I do say so myself. It feels like 2021 Zoë is making a comeback!
This wouldn’t be a proper newsletter exit without the weekly meme dump. I’ve been quite the anxious girl all week:
see you next week besties! <3
xx, zoë
